Description of the Birth/Manifestation of Śiva’s Son
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
The verse highlights how uncontrolled krodha (anger) and reactive judgment fracture relationships; Shaiva teaching points toward mastery of inner impulses so the soul (paśu) is not bound by emotional pāśa, but moves toward steadiness and discernment.
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana is repeatedly linked with purification of the mind—reducing anger, pride, and agitation; this narrative contrast underscores the need to approach Saguna Shiva with composure, restraint, and dharmic clarity rather than turbulent emotion.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to cool anger and stabilize the mind; applying vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and cultivating breath-aware calm before speech or action supports this restraint.
