It highlights pūjā-maryādā (sacred worship protocol): devotion is expressed not only by inner feeling but also by reverent conduct—preparing a proper seat, inviting, and honoring those worthy of worship.
The verse reflects the upacāras (services) central to Saguna worship—beginning with āsana. In Linga-pūjā, establishing the seat and formally inviting/placing the worshipful presence frames the ritual as disciplined bhakti.
Prepare an āsana (clean sacred seat) as the first upacāra, then mentally and ritually invite the worshipful presence with humility; this can be paired with steady japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to stabilize attention before offering further services.
