The verse highlights divine support being granted after proper instruction—symbolized by the sturdy staff—and the arising of inner joy upon beholding an auspicious, transformed state, pointing to grace (anugraha) that steadies the seeker on the path.
Though the Linga is not explicitly named here, the narrative aligns with Saguna worship themes in the Shiva Purana: the devotee is guided through tangible supports and auspicious visions/forms, which stabilize devotion and lead the mind toward Shiva-centered contemplation.
The practical takeaway is steadiness and support in sādhanā: adopt a firm daily discipline (japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” worship with purity, and regular meditation). The “staff” can be read as the resolve and rule that upholds practice.
