The Curse that Turns King Mitrasaha into a Rakshasa
Vasiṣṭha’s Śāpa Narrative

Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights vairagya—disenchantment with transient power and pleasure—as a necessary inner turning that prepares the soul (paśu) to seek Shiva (Pati) beyond worldly bonds (pāśa).
In Kotirudrasaṃhitā, such renunciation typically leads the seeker toward tīrtha and Jyotirlinga devotion—approaching Saguna Shiva through pilgrimage, worship, and discipline as a doorway to realizing Shiva’s supreme reality.
Adopt a simple life with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and contemplative detachment; if undertaking pilgrimage, maintain purity, offer water to the Linga, and keep steady mantra-remembrance.
