Description of Śiva Meditation and Worship
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Ardhanārīśvara
Mantra: (implied) praṇavādyamantra (begins with oṃ)
Type: gayatri
Shakti Form: Gaurī
Role: creative
It links yogic realization (Manonmanī—mind transcended) with bhakti and mantra, showing that devotion to Shiva supported by Pranava-led mantra leads toward the cessation of mental bondage and union with Pati (Shiva).
The verse emphasizes Saguna devotion—Gaurī’s personal worship and mantra-japa—while pointing to a Nirguna fruit: Manonmanī, the mind-free absorption that culminates in Shiva-realization beyond form.
Dhyāna followed by mantra-japa beginning with Oṁ (Pranava), performed with bhakti; practically, it implies steady meditation on Shiva and disciplined repetition of a Shiva-mantra to still the mind toward Manonmanī.
