Sannyāsa Maṇḍala Vidhi—Procedure for the Renunciate Mandala
दलानि श्वेतवर्णानि दलाष्टकमिहोच्यते । दलानि श्वेतवर्णात्रि समग्राणि प्रकल्पयेत् । पीतरूपां कर्णिकां च कृत्वा रक्तं च वृत्तकम्
dalāni śvetavarṇāni dalāṣṭakamihocyate | dalāni śvetavarṇātri samagrāṇi prakalpayet | pītarūpāṃ karṇikāṃ ca kṛtvā raktaṃ ca vṛttakam
Ici, l’on doit tracer un lotus à huit pétales, aux pétales blancs. Que tous les pétales soient d’un blanc uniforme ; puis, ayant fait jaune la karṇikā (le centre), qu’on dessine aussi un anneau circulaire rouge.

The verse teaches disciplined preparation of a sacred lotus-mandala: purity (white petals), awakened power/center (yellow pericarp), and consecrated protective energy (red circle). In Shaiva practice, such ordered symbolism steadies the mind and makes the worship-fit space for approaching Pati (Shiva) through reverent form.
It supports Saguna upasana by prescribing the visual and spatial framework (a lotus seat/diagram) in which the Linga or Shiva’s invoked presence is honored. The mandala is a ritual ‘body’ for devotion—guiding attention from outer form to inner contemplation.
Prepare (draw or arrange) an eight-petalled white lotus, make the central pericarp yellow, and add a red circular ring—then use it as the focused base for Shiva-puja and dhyana (often alongside mantra-japa such as the Panchakshara, where appropriate to the rite).
