Sannyāsa Maṇḍala Vidhi—Procedure for the Renunciate Mandala
रक्तवर्णं दक्षिणतस्त्रिकोणं चोत्तरे ततः । श्वेताभमर्द्धचन्द्रं च पीतवर्णं च पश्चिमे
raktavarṇaṃ dakṣiṇatastrikoṇaṃ cottare tataḥ | śvetābhamarddhacandraṃ ca pītavarṇaṃ ca paścime
Au sud, qu’on contemple la forme de couleur rouge; puis, au nord, un triangle. Qu’on médite aussi sur le demi-croissant d’une blancheur lumineuse, et qu’à l’ouest soit placée la forme de couleur jaune—ainsi les signes sacrés sont disposés selon leurs directions justes.

Such prescribed forms and placements function as saguna supports (ālambana) that help the devotee approach the Linga with ordered contemplation, gradually refining attention from outward symbols to Shiva’s indwelling presence.
A directional dhyāna (visualization) connected with applying sacred marks (commonly associated with Tripuṇḍra/bhasma practice in Shaiva observance), coordinating color-form contemplation with disciplined worship and mantra-japa.
