Ce bref hymne à Agni contemple la naissance cachée du Feu dans la Mère — dissimulé sous des enveloppes puis révélé sous une forme distincte. Il loue la puissance lumineuse et vivifiante d’Agni, qui accroît les communautés et la prospérité, et évoque son jeu dynamique comme rayon/flamme se mouvant avec le vent et la cendre, aiguisant ses forces pour l’action.

Mantra 1
अभ्यवस्थाः प्र जायन्ते प्र वव्रेर्वव्रिश्चिकेत । उपस्थे मातुर्वि चष्टे ॥
Les états enveloppants naissent au-dehors; de l’enveloppe, le Caché devient conscient; dans le giron de la Mère, il est vu en sa forme distincte.

जुहुरे वि चितयन्तोऽनिमिषं नृम्णं पान्ति । आ दृळ्हां पुरं विविशुः ॥
Ils offrent et discernent; ils gardent la puissance sans clignement de la force héroïque; ils sont entrés dans la citadelle ferme.

आ श्वैत्रेयस्य जन्तवो द्युमद्वर्धन्त कृष्टयः । निष्कग्रीवो बृहदुक्थ एना मध्वा न वाजयुः ॥
Vers Śvaitreya croissent les peuples et les races cultivatrices en force lumineuse ; le Porte-collier d’or, au vaste chant — par cela il se meut comme le miel, chercheur de plénitude.

प्रियं दुग्धं न काम्यमजामि जाम्योः सचा । घर्मो न वाजजठरोऽदब्धः शश्वतो दभः ॥
Tel un lait chéri, désirable, il naît dans l’intimité des puissances parentes ; tel le Gharma, il est un ventre de plénitude — non trompé, infaillible dans l’éternel.

क्रीळन्नो रश्म आ भुवः सं भस्मना वायुना वेविदानः । ता अस्य सन्धृषजो न तिग्माः सुसंशिता वक्ष्यो वक्षणेस्थाः ॥
Jouant, ô rayon, tu es venu — mêlé à la cendre, au vent, pleinement sachant ; ses forces, telles des assaillants aux tranchants vifs, sont bien affûtées, en veille au lieu du portage.
