Ainsi interpellé, le fils de Rāvaṇa, d’un éclat puissant et d’une volonté résolue, voyant Vibhīṣaṇa en ce lieu, lui adressa des paroles dures.
Having spoken that way, highly energetic and strong minded Indrajith seeing Vibheeshana spoke to him harshly as follows.
The verse sets up a dharmic tension: loyalty to family and kingdom versus loyalty to righteousness. Indrajit’s harshness foreshadows how adharma often defends itself through intimidation rather than truth.
Indrajit encounters Vibhīṣaṇa on the battlefield context and begins to address him with recrimination.
Indrajit’s firmness and pride (a strength that can become a vice), contrasted implicitly with Vibhīṣaṇa’s principled stance.
