निकुम्भिला-यज्ञविघ्नोपदेशः
Counsel to Disrupt the Nikumbhilā Rite
याच्यमानःसुबहुशोमयाहितचिकीर्षुणा ।वैदेहीमुत्सृजस्वेति न च तत्कृतवान्वचः ।।।।
yācyamānaḥ subahuśo mayā hitacikīrṣuṇā |
vaidehīm utsṛjasveti na ca tat kṛtavān vacaḥ ||
Bien que je l’aie supplié maintes fois, voulant son bien—«Relâche Vaidehī !»—il n’a pas agi selon ces paroles.
"She can't be perceived by recourse, by charity, by dissension or even by war. Why again any other means. There is no chance."
Dharma includes giving truthful, welfare-oriented counsel even to a wrongdoer; refusing such counsel leads to adharma and self-destruction.
Vibhīṣaṇa recounts to Rāma that he urged Rāvaṇa to return Sītā for Rāvaṇa’s own good, but Rāvaṇa rejected the advice.
Vibhīṣaṇa’s satya (truthfulness) and hita (benevolence): he advises for the enemy’s welfare, not out of fear or flattery.
