Bearing Mountain
नमस्कृत्वाऽथरामायमारुतिर्भीमविक्रमः ।राघवार्थेपरंकर्मसमीहतपरन्तपः ।।6.74.48।।
namaskṛtvā ’tha rāmāya mārutir bhīma-vikramaḥ |
rāghavārthe paraṃ karma samīhata parantapaḥ ||6.74.48||
Alors Māruti, redoutable par sa vaillance et fléau des ennemis, s’inclina devant Rāma et se résolut à accomplir une œuvre suprême pour la cause de Rāghava.
Maruti, scorcher of enemies, endowed with terrific valour offered prayers to Sri Rama and made up his mind to embark on the stupendous task for Raghava.
True Dharma expresses itself as devoted service and humility: even the mightiest first bows to rightful authority and aligns action with a just cause.
Before performing a major feat, Hanumān pays reverence to Rāma and commits himself to Rāma’s objective.
Bhakti and dāsya-bhāva (devoted service), joined with resolve (saṅkalpa) to accomplish a difficult duty.
