Hanuman Consoles Sita with the News of Victory
Then seeing Sita not answering him, the monkey chief asked her" Why are you not replying. What are you thinking?"
Dharma here appears as compassionate attentiveness: Hanumān respectfully checks on Sītā’s inner state rather than forcing speech, showing care and propriety in communication.
Sītā is silent after hearing news; Hanumān, noticing her lack of reply, asks why she is quiet and what she is thinking.
Hanumān’s empathy and respectful speech (vinaya) toward Sītā, addressed as “devi.”
