The Fierce Chariot-Duel of Rama and Ravana
रामस्यतुरगान्दीप्तै: शरैर्विव्याथरावणः ।तेदिव्याहरयस्तत्रनास्खलन्नापिबभ्रमुः ।।6.109.15।।बभूवुःस्वस्थहृदयाःपद्मनालैरिवाहताः ।
rāmasya turagān dīptaiḥ śarair vivyātha rāvaṇaḥ |
te divyā harayas tatra nāskhalan nāpi babhramuḥ ||6.109.15||
babhūvuḥ svastha-hṛdayāḥ padma-nālair ivāhatāḥ |
Rāvaṇa transperça de flèches flamboyantes les chevaux de Rāma ; pourtant ces coursiers divins ne trébuchèrent ni ne chancelaient : le cœur paisible, comme s’ils n’avaient été frappés que par des tiges de lotus.
Ravana perceived that the horses were just unperturbed by his arrows, became enraged and showered arrows excessively.
Steadfastness under attack: dharmic allies remain composed and do not collapse in fear when facing harm.
Rāvaṇa attacks Rāma’s chariot-horses, but they remain miraculously unperturbed.
Courage and steadiness (dhairya)—symbolically reflected even in Rāma’s team and equipment aligned with dharma.
