Hanumān–Sītā Dialogue and Identity Verification
दद्यान्न प्रतिगृह्णीयान्न ब्रूयात्किञ्चिदप्रियम्।।।।अपि जीवितहेतोर्वा रामस्सत्यपराक्रमः।
dadyān na pratigṛhṇīyān na brūyāt kiñcid apriyam |
api jīvitahetor vā rāmaḥ satyaparākramaḥ ||
Rama, dont la force était la vérité, donnait sans rien recevoir; et il ne prononçait pas la moindre parole dure, pas même pour préserver sa propre vie.
"Rama, whose strength was his truthfulness, gave whatever others sought but would not accept anything in return. He would not speak a harsh word.
Truthful, non-harmful conduct: generosity without grasping, and speech disciplined to avoid cruelty—ethical integrity maintained even under threat.
Hanuman describes Rama’s character to reassure Sita that Rama’s actions are grounded in dharma and truth.
Satyaparākrama: truth as moral power, expressed through giving, restraint, and gentle speech.
