Hanuman Enters Lanka and Encounters Laṅkā-devatā
"O evil-minded, foolish monkey! It is not possible for you to enter the city ruled by Ravana, the king of demons without conquering me".
It presents the idea of threshold and rightful access—entry is contested by a guardian. Dharma discourse here concerns power used for protection versus arrogance expressed through insult.
Laṅkā-devatā blocks Hanumān and declares he cannot see/enter the city unless he overcomes her.
Hanumān’s courage is being provoked; the verse sets the stage for valor tempered by dharmic restraint.
