Hanuman’s Circuit of Ravana’s Palace and the Crisis of Deliberation
विषमुद्बन्धनं वापि प्रवेशं ज्वलनस्य वा।।।।उपवासमथो शस्त्रं प्रचरिष्यन्ति वानराः।
viṣam udbandhanaṃ vāpi praveśaṃ jvalanasya vā |
upavāsam atho śastraṃ pracariṣyanti vānarāḥ ||
Les vānara chercheront la mort par le poison, ou par la pendaison, ou en entrant dans le feu flamboyant ; ou bien par le jeûne—ou par les armes.
"The vanaras will put an end to their lives by poisoning or by hanging or by self-immolation or by killing themselves with weapons or by fasting unto death.
Dharma warns against despair-driven self-destruction; the verse functions as a moral pressure on Hanumān to act so that hope and life are preserved through truthful success.
