Sugriva’s Remorse and Tara’s Lament after Vali’s Death
येनैक बाणेन हतः प्रियो मेतेनैव मां त्वं जहि सायकेन।हता गमिष्यामि समीपमस्यन मामृते राम रमेत वाली।।
yenaika bāṇena hataḥ priyo me tenaiva māṃ tvaṃ jahi sāyakena | hatā gamiṣyāmi samīpam asya na māmṛte rāma rameta vālī ||
De la même flèche qui a frappé mon bien-aimé, frappe-moi aussi de ce trait. Une fois morte, j’irai près de lui; car, ô Rāma, Vāli ne goûtera aucune joie sans moi.
'O warrior! kill me by the same single arrow with which you killed my beloved lord,Vali. I will join him after death as he will not be happy without me.
It highlights the traditional ideal of spousal oneness and loyalty, expressed through Tārā’s willingness to follow her husband in death.
Tārā, overwhelmed by loss, implores Rāma to kill her so she may be reunited with Vāli.
