कुमारसम्भवः—गङ्गायां तेजोनिक्षेपः
The Birth of Kumāra/Skanda and the Deposition of Śiva’s Energy through Gaṅgā
देवतानां प्रतिज्ञाय गङ्गामभ्येत्य पावक:।गर्भं धारय वै देवि देवतानामिदं प्रियम्।।1.37.12।।
devatānāṃ pratijñāya gaṅgām abhyetya pāvakaḥ | garbhaṃ dhāraya vai devi devatānām idaṃ priyam ||
Après avoir donné sa parole aux dieux, Pāvaka s’approcha de Gaṅgā et dit : «Ô Déesse, porte en ton sein cet embryon ; telle est la volonté chère aux dieux.»
"The Fire-god gave his consent. The devatas approached Ganga and said, 'O goddess! bear the energy of Siva (inyour world) since this cause is dear to the gods'.
