Transliteration

śrutvā vastu samagraṃ tad dharmātmā dharmasaṃhitam |

vyaktam anveṣate bhūyo yad vṛttaṃ tasya dhīmataḥ ||1.3.1||

Translation

Ayant entendu du sage le récit tout entier, tissé de Dharma, le juste Vālmīki voulut encore en discerner plus clairement le déroulement précis de la vie de Rāma.
