Dès l’enfance, Lakṣmaṇa—qui accroît la prospérité—demeura sans cesse, avec une tendre affection, dévoué à son frère aîné Rāma, joie du monde.
Right from his very childhood Lakshmana, an enhancer of fortune, always remained very attached to his eldest brother Rama, the delight of the world.
Dharma in relationships is steadfast loyalty and loving support: Lakṣmaṇa embodies seva toward the righteous elder (jyeṣṭha-bhrātṛ).
The narrator introduces the distinctive bond of Lakṣmaṇa with Rāma, beginning from their early childhood.
Unwavering affection and commitment (susnigdhatā, nityatā) to Rāma.
