भरतागमनशङ्कानिवारणम् / Dispelling Suspicion about Bharata’s Arrival

यद्विना भरतं त्वां च शत्रुघ्नं चापि मानद।भवेन्मम सुखं किञ्चिद्भस्म तत्कुरुतां शिखी।।।।
yad vinā bharataṃ tvāṃ ca śatrughnaṃ cāpi mānada |
bhavet mama sukhaṃ kiñcid bhasma tat kurutāṃ śikhī ||
Ô soutien de l’honneur, s’il pouvait exister pour moi quelque bonheur sans Bharata, sans toi et sans Śatrughna, que le feu le réduise en cendres.
O Lakshmana, I desire this kingdom only for the unity and happiness of my brothers. Iswear on the weapon I hold.
True well-being is collective and relational: happiness separated from righteous bonds (especially brotherhood) is rejected as unworthy.
Rāma emphasizes his love for his brothers and denies any motive to enjoy life or power at their expense.
Fraternal devotion—Rāma’s joy is inseparable from the welfare of his brothers.
