भरतागमनशङ्कानिवारणम् / Dispelling Suspicion about Bharata’s Arrival
Chitrakuta Encampment
सुसंरब्धं तु सौमित्रिं लक्ष्मणं क्रोधमूर्छितम्।रामस्तु परिसान्त्व्याथ वचनं चेदमब्रवीत्।।।।
susaṃrabdhaṃ tu saumitriṃ lakṣmaṇaṃ krodha-mūrchitam | rāmas tu parisāntvyātha vacanaṃ cedam abravīt || 2.97.1 ||
Alors Rāma, après avoir apaisé Lakshmana, fils de Sumitrā, violemment agité et comme évanoui sous la colère, prononça ces paroles.
Thereafter, Rama pacified Lakshmana, son of Sumitra who was violently agitated. He said to him who had swooned with rage:
Dharma is restraint and compassionate correction: Rama responds to anger not with anger, but by calming and guiding—upholding truth and family-duty.
After Lakshmana’s violent outburst, Rama intervenes to pacify him before explaining the likely reality.
Rama’s forbearance (kṣamā) and wise leadership in de-escalation.
