Alors la glorieuse mère de Rāma remit au plus éminent des brahmanes la dakṣiṇā souhaitée, puis elle adressa ces paroles à Rāghava.
The illustrious Kausalya, mother of Rama gave abundant gifts to the best of the brahmins and thereafter said to him:
Dharma includes gratitude and proper completion of sacred acts: giving dakṣiṇā honors learning and ritual service, sustaining the moral economy of society.
After arranging protective rites, Kauśalyā completes the ritual sequence by gifting the officiant and then begins her benedictions to Rāma.
Generosity joined to propriety—dāna performed as a duty, not as display.
