अनसूयोपदेशः तथा सीताया स्वयंवरकथा
Anasuya’s Counsel and Sita’s Swayamvara Narrative
नियमैर्विविधैराप्तं तपो हि महदस्ति मे।तत्संश्रित्य बलं सीते छन्दये त्वां शुचिव्रते।।2.118.14।।
niyamair vividhair āptaṃ tapo hi mahad asti me |
tat saṃśritya balaṃ sīte chandaye tvāṃ śucivrate ||2.118.14||
Ô Sītā, toi dont les vœux sont purs, je possède une grande puissance d’ascèse acquise par maintes observances ; m’appuyant sur cette force, je t’accorderai ce que tu désires, pour ta joie.
O Sita of pure conduct, I have great ascetic power obtained through practising various austerities. With its strength I shall give what you want for your enjoyment.
Tapas (self-discipline) is presented as moral power used for the good of others—spiritual attainment directed toward benevolence.
Anasūyā assures Sītā that her accumulated ascetic merit can be used to fulfil Sītā’s wishes and bring her comfort.
Anasūyā’s generosity and responsible use of ascetic power in service of a righteous guest.
