Concept: Self-restraint (śīla) expressed through a regulated diet becomes a spiritual instrument that yields both bodily health and moral refinement.

Application: Adopt periodic dietary simplicity (e.g., sattvic restriction) with a clear intention—ethical speech, non-harm, and daily remembrance of Vishnu—so the vow becomes character-building rather than merely dietary.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

It is a vow associated with cultivating śīla (ethical conduct) and is said to yield the fruit of ārogya (health). The verse links it with observing a payo-vrata (a milk-based vow) on the fifteenth lunar day.

It refers to the fifteenth tithi (lunar day), commonly associated with Pūrṇimā (full moon) or amāvasyā contexts depending on the fortnight; the verse specifically prescribes observance on this fifteenth day.

The verse presents a dharmic principle that disciplined vows and moral conduct (śīla) are not merely spiritual ideals but are also connected to well-being (ārogya), integrating ethics with holistic flourishing.
