Counsel to Sunīthā in the Vena Narrative: Boon for a Righteous Son and the Seed–Fruit Law of Karma

Unspecified (verse addresses Devī; likely a male narrator/teacher speaking to a goddess interlocutor within the Bhūmi-khaṇḍa dialogue frame)

Concept: Karma-phala is congruent with its cause: as the seed, so the fruit; effects do not arise otherwise, and outcomes resemble their originating actions and dispositions.

Application: Audit your ‘seeds’: intentions, habits, speech, and choices; if you want different results, change the causal inputs—especially through sāttvika discipline and devotion-oriented living.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A goddess-like listener sits beside a sage who holds a handful of seeds in one palm and a ripe fruit in the other, visually teaching the law of correspondence. Behind them, a symbolic tree shows branches bearing different fruits labeled by subtle motifs—lotus for sattva, thorny vine for tamas—illustrating that each outcome mirrors its cause.","primary_figures":["sage/teacher (speaker)","Devī (listener)"],"setting":"quiet āśrama courtyard with a teaching platform; a symbolic ‘karma tree’ and a small water pot nearby","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["lamp gold","sandalwood beige","emerald green","lotus pink","indigo"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: sage and Devī in frontal devotional composition; the sage displays seed and fruit; gold leaf on halos and on the stylized karma-tree leaves; rich reds/greens, ornate arch, gem-like detailing on Devī’s ornaments.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate teaching scene under a flowering tree; delicate hands showing seed and fruit; cool palette with refined linework, soft shading, and a lyrical garden background.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, iconic Devī and sage with expressive eyes; simplified symbolic tree with distinct fruit clusters; warm yellow-red-green pigments, mural border patterns.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central medallion of seed-and-fruit teaching, surrounded by repeating lotus and vine motifs representing different karmic seeds; deep blue ground with gold highlights, intricate floral borders."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["soft tanpura drone","temple bell single strikes","night insects","stillness","distant flowing water"]}

FAQs

It states that results (phala) correspond to their causes (bīja): one undergoes outcomes in line with the actions and intentions that generated them.

Because a seed naturally determines the kind of fruit produced; likewise, the quality of one’s deeds determines the quality of one’s experiences and outcomes.

Act with care and righteousness, since outcomes are not random—what one plants through conduct and choices is what one later receives.
