Concept: A properly praised and approached tīrtha becomes a concentrated field of merit where the four human aims are said to be attainable.

Application: Undertake pilgrimage with ethical discipline (truthfulness, restraint, charity), treating the journey as sādhana rather than tourism; bring the ‘tīrtha attitude’ home through regular sacred bathing/cleanliness and charity.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Type: tirtha

FAQs

It states that accomplishment of dharma, artha, kāma, and mokṣa arises from that sacred context (tīrtha/holy place), emphasizing pilgrimage as a direct means—“not otherwise.”

The verse identifies Puṣkara as a tīrtha especially associated with Brahmā, reflecting its traditional status as a Brahmā-centered pilgrimage site in Purāṇic sacred geography.

It encourages sincere engagement with sacred places and practices (like tīrtha-yātrā) as a disciplined path toward holistic life-goals, rather than treating them as optional or merely symbolic.
