Même pour un homme pourvu de mérite, surgissent de nombreux obstacles extrêmement redoutables. Brahmā dit : on va maintenant énoncer le fruit proclamé pour le sacrifice, même pour l’Aśvamedha.
Brahmā
Concept: Even the meritorious face severe obstacles; therefore, a higher, more accessible merit (to be taught) is needed in Kali-yuga.
Application: Do not assume ‘being good’ removes all impediments; adopt steady devotional practices (śravaṇa, kīrtana, smaraṇa) as reliable supports when life remains difficult.
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

It highlights that worldly life and spiritual progress can be tested by severe impediments despite one’s accumulated merit; virtue does not automatically remove all challenges, but it prepares one to endure and complete dharmic aims.
The Aśvamedha is invoked as a benchmark of great ritual merit; the verse signals that the upcoming teaching will discuss the “fruit” (phala) of sacrifice, even of the highest kind, and how it is to be understood.
Do not abandon dharmic action when difficulties appear; obstacles are part of the path, and steadiness (dhṛti) and right intention are essential for realizing the promised fruits of righteous deeds.
