The Greatness of Bathing in the Ganges

Gaṅgā-snānā-mahātmya

FAQs

It declares the fruit of lifelong, daily Gaṅgā-snāna: assured residence in Viṣṇu’s realm for a kalpa, emphasizing tīrtha-sevā as a potent purifier and merit-generating practice.

By linking a devotional sacred act (regular Gaṅgā bathing undertaken with reverence) to Vaiṣṇava-loka, it frames tīrtha observance as an expression of Viṣṇu-centered bhakti with a promised divine destination.

Primarily ritual discipline (ācāra) and vrata-like regularity: the stress is on nitya (daily) observance and lifelong continuity, rather than a technical Vedāṅga such as Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa.
