Narada (in a technical instruction context; transmitted within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue framework)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
This verse reflects the Purana’s “technical sciences” layer (Book 1.3), where procedural knowledge (prayoga) is recorded; it also implicitly warns that influence over others can be produced through specific compounded substances, underscoring the need for discernment and dharmic restraint.
It does not teach bhakti directly; instead, it belongs to a pragmatic/technical register. In the broader Narada Purana ethos, such powers are secondary and should not replace Vishnu-bhakti, which is presented elsewhere as the higher aim.
A “prayoga” style instruction is given: compounding two substances in equal measure for a stated effect. This aligns with the Third Pada’s technical orientation (procedural/ritual know-how rather than narrative theology).
