Adhyaya 31 — Naimittika and Related Śrāddha Rites: Sapiṇḍīkaraṇa, Eligibility, Timing, and Procedure
यद्यदिष्टतमं तेषां तत्तदन्नमसत्वरम् ।
अक्रुध्यंśca naro dadyāt sambhavena pralobhayan ॥
yadyadiṣṭacatamaṃ teṣāṃ tattadannamasatvaram / akrudhyaṃśca naro dadyāt sambhavena pralobhayan
Ce que chacun d’eux désire le plus, cette nourriture même, il doit la fournir—sans hâte. L’homme doit donner sans colère, et ne les encourager qu’avec ce qui est possible et disponible.

The giver’s inner state matters: generosity must be free of irritation and hurry. Dharma is fulfilled by capacity (sambhava) without performative excess or resentment.

Unhurried giving and absence of anger prevent ‘rajas’ from contaminating the rite; the offering becomes sattvic and thus more ‘reachable’ to pitṛs in the ritual imagination.
