Adhyaya 14 — The Messenger of Yama Explains Karmic Retribution and the Causes of Naraka Torments
उत्सवादुत्सवं यान्ति स्वर्गात् स्वर्गं सुखात् सुखम् ।
श्रद्धधानाश्च शान्ताश्च धनदाः शुभकारिणः ॥
utsavādutsavaṃ yānti svargāt svargaṃ sukhāt sukham / śraddhadhānāśca śāntāśca dhanadāḥ śubhakāriṇaḥ
De fête en fête ils vont, de ciel en ciel, de bonheur en bonheur—ceux qui ont la foi, sont paisibles, donnent des richesses en aumône et accomplissent le bien.

Merit is portrayed as self-reinforcing: faith, calmness, charity, and beneficence generate uplifting social and post-mortem outcomes, experienced as repeated joy and higher states.
Didactic Dharma material (ethical instruction). It supports Purāṇic aims but is not a primary Pancalakṣaṇa segment.
‘From happiness to happiness’ can be read as a refinement of inner disposition: sattva cultivated through śraddhā and dāna creates a momentum that carries the mind to subtler, brighter loka-experiences.
