Puis, ô seigneur de la terre, ayant atteint le courant sacré nommé Māheśvarī Dhārā, le pèlerin obtient le mérite du sacrifice Aśvamedha et, par là, relève et rachète sa lignée.
घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse teaches that sincere pilgrimage to a Śaiva sacred site (Māheśvarī Dhārā) can confer extraordinary religious merit—comparable to the Aśvamedha—and that such merit is ethically significant because it is believed to benefit not only the pilgrim but also to uplift the entire lineage.
A speaker is describing the fruits of visiting a particular tīrtha. Addressing the king as ‘dharādhipa,’ he states that reaching Māheśvarī Dhārā grants the pilgrim the reward of an Aśvamedha sacrifice and enables the redemption or elevation of his family line.
