The verse frames an ethical test: will one choose based on utility and power (Arjuna’s famed prowess) or based on fairness, duty, and impartial regard among family members. It pushes the listener to justify choices by dharma rather than expediency.
In the Yakṣa episode, the Yakṣa questions Yudhiṣṭhira after the Pāṇḍavas have fallen. Here the Yakṣa challenges the logic of reviving Nakula instead of Arjuna, whose strength is central to the brothers’ survival, forcing a dharmic explanation.
