अथर्वा त्वसृजललोकानात्मना55लोक्य पावकम् । मिषतां सर्वभूतानामुन्ममाथ महार्णवम्,अथरवनि सब प्राणियोंके देखते-देखते समुद्रकों मथ डाला और अग्निदेवका दर्शन करके स्वयं ही सम्पूर्ण लोकोंकी सृष्टि की
atharvā tv asṛjal lokān ātmanā lokya pāvakam | miṣatāṁ sarvabhūtānām unmamātha mahārṇavam ||
Mārkaṇḍeya dit : Atharvan, par la puissance de sa propre ascèse, fit naître les mondes. Ayant contemplé le dieu du Feu, Agni, et tandis que tous les êtres regardaient, il baratta le grand océan ; ainsi se manifesta la création, dans un acte merveilleux qui montre la force de la tapas et l’ordre du cosmos.
