Kṛtayuga Description and Instruction on Royal Dharma
नैके युगसहस्रान्तास्त्वया दृष्टा महामुने । न चापीह सम: कश्रिदायुष्मान् दृश्यते तव
naike yugasahasrāntās tvayā dṛṣṭā mahāmune | na cāpīha samaḥ kaścid āyuṣmān dṛśyate tava ||
«Ô grand sage, tu as vu maintes dissolutions terribles du monde, survenant à la fin de milliers et de milliers de yuga. Et en ce monde, nul ne paraît t’égaler en longévité.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes the vastness of cosmic time and the exceptional stature of a realized sage whose lifespan and experience transcend ordinary human limits, inviting humility before dharma and the larger order of the universe.
Vaiśaṃpāyana addresses a great sage, praising him as uniquely long-lived and as one who has directly witnessed repeated cosmic endings occurring at the close of immense cycles of time.
