क्वचित्‌ प्रधावंस्तिष्ठ॑श्न॒ क्वचिच्चोपविशंस्तथा

Transliteration

vaishampāyana uvāca | kvacit pradhāvaṁs tiṣṭhaṁś ca kvacic copaviśaṁs tathā | trāsayan sarvabhūtāni mahāsattvaparākramaḥ ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana dit : Tantôt il courait, tantôt il s’arrêtait, tantôt il s’asseyait ; poussé par le désir d’obtenir du gibier, ce héros d’un grand courage et d’une grande prouesse errait sans peur dans la forêt effroyable, épouvantant tous les êtres vivants.
