Arjuna meets the Lokapālas, is tested by Indra, and is led to Amarāvatī for astra-śikṣā

Indraloka-gamana

यमाहु: सर्वभूतानां प्रकृते: प्रकृति धरुवम्‌ । अनादिनिधन देवं प्रभुं नारायणं परम्‌

yam āhuḥ sarvabhūtānāṁ prakṛteḥ prakṛti dhruvam | anādinidhanaṁ devaṁ prabhuṁ nārāyaṇaṁ param ||

Vaiśampāyana dit : «Ce Seigneur suprême, Nārāyaṇa—sans commencement ni fin, Maître divin—que les sages décrivent comme le fondement impérissable de tous les êtres et comme la source même de la prakṛti, est proclamé comme dépassant même Brahmaloka. Sa demeure se révèle par son propre éclat ; elle surpasse le soleil et le feu. Même les dieux ne contemplent pas aisément cette forme de bon augure, toute de lumière ; et pour les devas comme pour les dānavas, sa vision est d’une extrême difficulté.»
