अस्त्रैरेव महाबाहो चिकीर्षन्नधिकां क्रियाम् इसके पश्चात् प्रतापी परशुरामजीने मेरे ऊपर दिव्यास्त्रोंका प्रयोग आरम्भ किया; परंतु महाबाहो! मैंने उनसे भी अधिक पराक्रम प्रकट करनेकी इच्छा रखकर उन सब अस्त्रोंका दिव्यास्त्रोंद्ारा ही निवारण कर दिया

Bhīṣma dit : «Ô toi aux bras puissants, ensuite Paraśurāma, flamboyant de prouesse, se mit à employer contre moi des armes divines (divyāstra). Mais, désireux de manifester une vaillance plus grande encore, je parai chacune d’elles par des armes divines correspondantes et les réduisis à néant.»
