Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge

tat kariṣye kuru-kṣetre yotsye vipra tvayā saha | daṇḍe rāma yatheṣṭaṁ me sajjībhava mahādyute ||

Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds steadfast resolve and the ethics of meeting a challenge directly: one should act according to one’s declared commitment and capacity, without evasion, while maintaining the honor-bound framework of a regulated duel.

The speaker accepts a proposed confrontation and declares that the fight will take place at Kurukṣetra. He addresses the brāhmaṇa opponent and calls upon Rāma—described as greatly radiant—to ready himself (with staff in hand) for the intended single combat.
