The verse highlights disciplined leadership in a time of impending conflict: warriors may be driven by excitement and the urge to break the enemy formation, but the king—especially Yudhiṣṭhira, associated with dharma—must stand among them as a stabilizing moral presence, directing force under duty rather than uncontrolled passion.
As the troops stand ready—armed and enthusiastic to shatter the opposing host—King Yudhiṣṭhira moves through the middle of his soldiers, advancing among them and visibly taking his place at the heart of the army.
