गालवस्य विषादः तथा विष्णुप्रयाणम्
Gālava’s Despair and Resolve to Seek Viṣṇu
तस्य शुश्रूषणे यत्नमकरोद् गालवो मुनि: । गौरवाद् बहुमानाच्च हार्देन प्रियकाम्यया
tasya śuśrūṣaṇe yatnam akarod gālavō muniḥ | gauravād bahumānāc ca hārdena priyakāmyayā ||
Nārada dit : Par révérence, profond respect et affection du cœur—ne cherchant qu’à lui plaire—le sage Gālava s’appliquait avec ardeur à un service attentif et à une présence dévouée. Le vers met en lumière la śuśrūṣā (le service empressé) comme une discipline éthique née non de la contrainte, mais d’une estime sincère et d’une intention aimante.
नारद उवाच
The verse teaches that śuśrūṣā—attentive service and care—is a form of dharma when motivated by reverence, genuine respect, and heartfelt devotion, aiming at the well-being and satisfaction of the one served rather than personal gain.
Nārada describes Gālava’s conduct: he diligently attends and serves ‘him’ (the person previously mentioned in the chapter) with sustained effort, driven by esteem, honor, and affectionate desire to please.
