Shloka 19

शुचि: शीलान्विताचार: शुक्लवासा जितेन्द्रिय: । संस्कृत: सर्वशास्त्रज्ञ: श्रद्दधानोइनसूयक:

śuciḥ śīlānvita-ācāraḥ śukla-vāsā jitendriyaḥ | saṃskṛtaḥ sarva-śāstra-jñaḥ śraddadhāno 'n-asūyakaḥ ||

Vaiśaṃpāyana dit : «Qu’on établisse comme récitant un homme savant, pur au-dehors comme au-dedans, doté de bonne tenue et de conduite droite, vêtu de blanc immaculé, maître de lui-même, bien formé, et connaissant l’essence de tous les śāstra—plein de foi et sans esprit de dénigrement. Un tel érudit, honoré et soutenu par des dons et par le respect, devient apte à transmettre le récit sacré d’une manière qui maintient le dharma.»
