Rules for Dharmic Victory in Kṣatriya Engagement
अथैनमभिनिन्दन्ति भिन्न कुम्भमिवाश्मनि | तस्माद् धर्मेण विजयं कोशं लिप्सेत भूमिप:,पत्थरपर पटके हुए घड़ेके समान उसके टूक-टूक हो जाते हैं और सभी लोग उसकी निन्दा करते हैं; अत: राजाको चाहिये कि वह धर्मपूर्वक ही धन और विजय प्राप्त करनेकी इच्छा करे
athainam abhinindanti bhinna-kumbham ivāśmani | tasmād dharmeṇa vijayaṃ kośaṃ lipseta bhūmipaḥ ||
Alors le peuple voue au blâme un tel souverain, brisé comme une jarre fracassée contre la pierre. C’est pourquoi, ô roi, il faut rechercher la victoire et le trésor uniquement par le dharma—par des moyens justes—afin que le succès ne s’achève pas dans l’opprobre et la ruine.
