Educational Q&A

The verse teaches inner equanimity: do not swing between sorrow and joy, treat praise and blame alike, abandon expectation and ego, and live free from dualities and possessiveness.

In the Śānti Parva’s instruction-oriented setting after the war, Yudhiṣṭhira articulates a resolve toward renunciant discipline—seeking peace through self-control, non-attachment, and freedom from social approval or condemnation.
