सान्त्व-निति: (Sāntva-Nīti) — The One-Word Principle of Conciliation
यस्तु सर्वमभिप्रेक्ष्य पूर्वमेवाभिभाषते । स्मितपूर्वाभिभाषी च तस्य लोक: प्रसीदति,जो सभीको देखकर पहले ही बात करता है और सबसे मुसकराकर ही बोलता है, उसपर सब लोग प्रसन्न रहते हैं
yas tu sarvam abhiprekṣya pūrvam evābhibhāṣate | smitapūrvābhibhāṣī ca tasya lokaḥ prasīdati ||
Mais celui qui, après avoir considéré chacun, prend le premier la parole et s’adresse aux autres avec un sourire en avant, gagne la bienveillance des hommes ; le monde autour de lui s’apaise et lui devient favorable.
शक्र उवाच
Initiative in courteous communication—observing others, speaking first when appropriate, and addressing them with a smile—creates goodwill and social harmony; people naturally become pleased with such a person.
Śakra (Indra) is describing a mark of good conduct: a person who attentively regards those present and greets or speaks first, doing so with a smile, becomes well-liked and receives favorable regard from people.
