Chapter 81: Trust, Allies, and the Qualifications of the King’s Artha-Secretary (अर्थसचिव)
यं मन्येत ममाभावादिममर्थागमं स्पृशेत् । नित्यं तस्माच्छडुकितव्यममित्र तद् विदुर्बुधा:
yaṁ manyeta mamābhāvād imam arthāgamaṁ spṛśet | nityaṁ tasmāc chadukitavyam amitra tad vidur budhāḥ ||
Bhishma dit : «Si l’on nourrit cette pensée : “Quand je ne serai plus, cet homme pourra devenir roi et s’emparer pour lui seul de tout l’afflux des richesses”, alors — quel qu’il soit, fût-ce un frère, un voisin ou un fils — il faut demeurer sans cesse sur ses gardes à son égard. Car les sages reconnaissent en un tel homme un ennemi.»
