Śānti Parva, Adhyāya 52 — Bhīṣma’s Humility Before Kṛṣṇa and the Granting of Boons
यच्च किंचित् क्वचिल्लोके कर्ताव्यं क्रियते च यत् । त्वत्तस्तन्नि:सृतं देव लोके बुद्धिमतो हि ते
yacca kiñcit kvacilloke kartavyaṁ kriyate ca yat | tvattastanniḥsṛtaṁ deva loke buddhimato hi te ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : «Quel que soit le devoir qui, en quelque lieu de ce monde, doive être accompli—et quelle que soit l’action effectivement accomplie—tout a sa source en toi, ô Être divin ; car, en ce monde, l’intelligence même des sages procède de toi.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
All rightful action (kartavya) and even the discerning intelligence of the wise are presented as ultimately originating from the divine; ethical life is grounded in a higher source rather than mere personal preference.
Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, states a doctrinal point to a divine addressee: whatever duties are prescribed and whatever actions occur in the world are traced back to that deity as their ultimate source.
