Śānti Parva, Adhyāya 52 — Bhīṣma’s Humility Before Kṛṣṇa and the Granting of Boons
ततस्ते धर्मनिरता: सम्यक् तैरभिपूजिता: । श्वः समेष्याम इत्युक्त्वा यथेष्टं त्वरिता ययु:
tataste dharmaniratāḥ samyak tair abhipūjitāḥ | śvaḥ sameṣyāma ity uktvā yatheṣṭaṃ tvaritā yayuḥ ||
Puis ces sages, fermes dans le dharma et dûment honorés par eux, dirent : « Demain matin, nous reviendrons ici », et sans tarder s’en allèrent, chacun vers la demeure de son choix.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Dharma is expressed not only in lofty doctrine but also in conduct: honoring the righteous appropriately, speaking truthfully about one’s intentions, and maintaining disciplined, timely action after receiving due respect.
After being properly received and honored, the dharma-minded sages announce that they will return the next morning and then promptly depart, each going to his preferred place of rest or abode.
