Bhīṣma on the Śara-Śayyā: Yudhiṣṭhira and Kṛṣṇa Approach the Eldest for Śānti
अवस्कन्द्याथ वाहेभ्य: संयम्य प्रचल॑ मन: । एकीकृत्येन्द्रियग्राममुपतस्थुर्महामुनीन्
avaskandyātha vāhebhyaḥ saṁyamya pracalaṁ manaḥ | ekīkṛtyendriyagrāmam upatasthur mahāmunīn ||
Alors, descendus de leurs chars, ils réprimèrent l’esprit agité ; rassemblant l’ensemble des sens en une concentration unique, ils s’approchèrent et se tinrent au service des grands sages.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Before receiving instruction on dharma, one should cultivate inner discipline—restraining the restless mind and concentrating the senses—and approach the wise with humility and service-mindedness.
The party dismounts from their chariots and, after composing themselves mentally and sensorially, goes to the assembled great sages to pay respects and attend upon them, signaling readiness to hear counsel.
